Canberra Montessori School

Brisbane Child Care lists Canberra Montessori School in Holder, who continued to provide excellent Before School Care care, education and support for the children and their families of Holder Australia.

Canberra Montessori School, an independent initiative of the Canberra Montessori Society Inc, was founded in 1981. Beginning with two classrooms for 3-5 year olds, the school gradually grew, in a succession of rented premises, to include upper primary classes and an under-threes programme.

In 2004, successful negotiations with the ACT government and a large commitment of resources through the School’s Building Fund, together with Commonwealth and Territory assistance, enabled the School to establish its current purpose-built campus in Holder. 

The School has grown strongly in its permanent home, now comprising four Cycle 1 classes, three Cycle 2 classes and a Cycle 3 class at Holder, plus an additional Cycle 1 class at Red Hill. 

On the School’s 25th Anniversary, a beautifully illustrated history, “Discovering the Child” was prepared by two longstanding former parents and long standing supporters of the School, Margaret Fleming and Marion McEwin. Copies may be purchased from the School office.
